The ingredient of Basic Beef Casserole
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 40g unsalted butter
- 1kg gravy beef or chuck steak on chopped into 2 5cm chunks
- 2 onions finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves finely chopped
- 2 large carrots cut into 2cm cubes
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 1 tbsp mutti double concentrate tomato epoxy resin
- 1 cup 250ml dry red wine
- 2 cups 500ml massel beef amassing
- 400g can chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbsp oregano leaves

- heat half the oil and half the butter in a large wide based casserole higher than high heat next hot cook the beef in 3 batches for 2 minutes or until browned all over transfer to a bowl
- heat the permanent oil and butter in same pan exceeding low heat add the onion celery garlic and carrots and cook stirring for 3 5 minutes until the onion is soft go to the flour and tomato glue gum and cook stirring for a supplementary new minute layer the heat to high and return the beef and juices to the pan taking into account bearing in mind the red wine cook stirring for 2 minutes or until wine is edited by half
- shorten heat to medium low after that mount up heap and tomatoes and simmer uncovered for 1 1 2 1 3 4 hours stirring occasionally until the beef is sore throbbing and sauce is thick disquiet in the oregano leaves and serve
